The Process

How an inquiry becomes a piece

Every vessel begins with an inquiry — a sentence, an image, a half-formed idea carried into the sanctuary for safekeeping. From there, the work unfolds in four small rituals.

First — the inquiry

The form on the front page asks what you’re carrying: subject, style, scale, placement, budget. Send what you have, even if it’s incomplete. Half-finished questions are easier to finish together than perfectly-worded ones are to take apart. The form takes about four minutes; expect a response within three or four days.

Second — the consultation

For most pieces, a brief consultation precedes the appointment. This may happen in person at the Nashville studio, by phone, or by message — whichever serves the conversation. Reference images, dimensions, placement, and meaning are discussed. A deposit holds the session once both sides feel the shape of the piece.

Third — the session

Sessions take place at Reliquary, 100 Taylor Street, Suite 22A, in Nashville. Hours run roughly 11am to 5pm, seven days a week, all by appointment. Bring water. Bring a snack. Wear something soft and forgiving. Sound, scent, and pace are tuned to the day.

Fourth — the aftercare

Healing instructions are given at the close of every session and should be followed for the first two weeks. Send a healed photo when the piece settles into skin — that image is the final relic in the chain.

The work, once made, belongs to whoever carries it.
